watched this chinese religion video during religious studies ! geee, showed all the funerals and stuff, reminded me of last year when we had to watch this funeral clip during chenyouming's chinese class.

hmmm, and it got me to a conclusion why westerners always think they're way better off than the Chinese who take up 25% of the world's population. it's like all the videos featuring Chinese that people here watch are filmed wayyyyyy backkkk when everything was still undeveloped etc. and so, they think all countries consisting of chinese are currently still like that. which is a DUH, NO ! (look at shanghai mann ! it rocks totally !) also, movies with chinese characters in them always portray Chinese in the typical-chinese-in-movies way. where this lady'll be in a super tight-fitting cheongsam with her hair bunned up high, trying her best to act authoritative, demanding for everything and anything. and talking non-stop in a chinese-dialect punctuated accent. grrrrrr, that's so NOT TRUE ..

AND the coolest thing here's to have SEX. once you're no longer a virgin, you rock ! you're majestic ! awesome ! cool ! be damnit proud of it ! hurrrr .. too bad, i guess we're just brought up in a more moraled way. american culture's no culture at all. my roomate's a junior (turning 21) and she has a grandson ! isn't that so .. amazing ! guess being abroad's really made me understand how glad i should be that my home's Singapore ! :D

ok, anyways, had a formal dinner on saturday. journalists from around the world were on this UN training trip and one of their stops was my college, so was invited to join in. was really funny cos every journalist had to do a little intro of their country and when the representative of singapore (yes ! i was so glad to hear my name pronounced correctly after so loooong ! HAHA) went up, she showed the singapore map over the projector and went (pointing at toapayoh, jurong, tampines ..) "these are housing estates" lol. every other representative was naming cities and towns in their country and all we had were housing estates ! haha, guess that's what makes singapore all cosy and homely. at least you know you won't have to travel for hours just to meet up with someone who stays on the other side of the island. we're 42km wide and proud of it !
